Ted Hui Urges the Police to Allow a Safe Evacuation for the People at Polytechnic University
The police has urged the people inside Polytechnic University to leave the campus via Cheong Wan Road South Bridge. Democratic Party Legislative Councillor Ted Hui, who is still inside the campus, doubts the reasoning behind this appeal as the bridge has already been sealed off; it is not possible to cross. Few attempts were made to leave the campus via another exit but were all instantly met by tear gas fired by the police. Ted Hui doubts the motive behind the police's appeal.
Ted Hui says there are currently around 1,000 people inside the campus, many of which are young students, "no one wants to see people get hurt, no hong konger would want that." Ted says there are currently many casualties from the police's use of blue dye and tear gas but there are insufficient medical personnels to treat them, "this is non-humanitarian and the situation is dire." He urges the police to allow the people inside the campus to evacuate and go home safely.
